Residency / September 2015
In collaboration with Supercollider Contemporary Art Projects
*We are no longer accepting applications for this residency. We will be issuing a call out for our next residency opportunity in Spring 2016.
We are now accepting proposals for a residency opportunity, which will commence in August 2015 and last for ten days. This residency opportunity is for an individual artist living and working in the UK. We are particularly interested in supporting emerging artists.
This year, we are partnering up with Blackpool based gallery Supercollider Contemporary Art Projects. The successful artist will spend ten days in Blackpool, developing and installing their work at Supercollider.
Proposals for work need not relate directly to Blackpool, but we will be looking for work that is responsive to, and that takes into consideration the social and cultural climate of, the site. Previously shown work is acceptable, however, we are looking for innovative ideas that push boundaries and challenge, and re-sited work must be contextually appropriate.
UNIT is not able to provide an artist fee, however, we will cover specified reasonable costs associated with the residency, these are: accommodation; train travel; exhibition output (refreshments and marketing). There is no administration fee to apply.
The deadline to submit proposals is July 5th. Proposals should include: an artist CV (no longer than two sides of A4); a short statement about the work and how it relates to your wider practice and the residency; between 5 and 10 low resolution images. Where possible, please contain this information to one PDF or similar.
